The Journey Of Cameroon, From Portuguese to Ger,mans and Now Cameroon.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡² Cameroon's name dates back to 1472 when Portuguese explorers led by Fernando PΓ³ arrived at the Wouri River estuary. They found the river teeming with crayfish and named it Rio dos CamarΓ΅es ("River of Prawns") .

This name eventually expanded to describe the coastal region and nearby mountains. 

Later, πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ German colonizers adapted it to Kamerun for their protectorate . Upon gaining independence in 1960, the country adopted the modern spelling Cameroon , evolving from a Portuguese river filled with prawns to the proud nation it is today.
