Africa s Toughest Mountain Race. Guiness Mt Cameroon Race -Buea
🇨🇲 First held in 1973 in Buea at the foot of Mount Fako, the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope spans 38 km from the Molyko Sports Complex to the summit and back, testing Africa’s toughest endurance athletes.
Sarah Liengu Etonge of Cameroon, the famed “Queen of the Mountain,” has won the women’s division 7 times, while recent champions include Usheni Hassan (2025, Cameroon) and Hamadou Bih Ibrahim (2026, Chad). Ngalim Lisette (Cameroon) is another frequent winner.
-The race attracts hundreds from across Africa and beyond — runners from Kenya, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Chad, and France — celebrating athleticism, cultural pride, and regional unity on Mount Cameroon’s slopes.
